SELF RELIANT DIVER Independance While Diving

The purpose of this course is to recognize and accept the role of the buddy system and its contribution to diver safety while identifying and developing self-reliance and independence while diving. It is not a course for everyone and certainly not one to be taken lightly so the pre-requisites have been set accordingly. It is intended for experienced divers who wish to develop their skills generally, perhaps in preparation for further advanced training.

What You Learn

  • Value and application of the buddy system
  • Philosophy of, and motivation for, diving without a partner

  • Dive planning and gas management


The Scuba Gear You Use

You use all your basic scuba gear including a dive computer and accessories. You will also need a redundant air source (Pony bottle with regulator), an SMB with at least 100' of line, redundant computer, signal marker (both visual and audible), a knife, and a slate.


Prerequisites

To enroll in the PADI Seft Reliant Diver course, you must be:

  • PADI Advanced Open Water Certification
  • Minimum of 100 logged dives
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Value of equipment redundancy and what back up equipment is needed
  • Successful Completion of a SCUBA Skills Assesment by one of our Diving Staff
