Overview
The Pennyroyal Quarry is our primary open water training site. This unique 22 acre spring-fed quarry is located in Hopkinsville Kentucky, and features attractions suitable for all divers, regardless of experience level. The depth ranges from 20 to 115 feet, with water temperatures ranging from 85°F to 49°F depending on depth. There are several thermoclines in this quarry, and a wetsuit is recommended.This site's visibility sets it apart from others, allowing you to spot its countless sunken objects from dozens of feet away. Camping areas, gear prep tables, and bathrooms are available on the property, and food and drinks are available for purchase. A dive certification card is required (unless you are training for an open water certification with a reputable dive center), and quarry passes may be purchased for $29.68 per diver. Weekend passes may also be purchased for $58.30.
Underwater Features
Divers at this site may encounter aquatic life such as bluegill, spotted or "Kentucky" bass, and catfish. Aquatic life aside, Pennyroyal is known for the sunken attractions it hosts, including several training platforms, navigation courses at both a basic and advanced level, boats, dinosaurs, a bus, and much more!
